I live in a nursing home and these folks have been a favourite of both the staff and the residents for many years. I see them deliver here several times a day. The food is delivered hot, and amazingly quick. Very satisfying portion size too. They have at least 80 or 90 loyal fans here.

The food is probably the best take-out option in the area as far as I'm concerned, and the portions you get with your delivery are very generous in comparison to other restaurants. Everything we've ever ordered from this place has been absolutely great for the price, and the selection they offer is pretty huge as well. You can practically get anything you want here.Unfortunately the restaurant itself, upon actually visiting for a dine-out experience, is a kinda gross place and smells a bit of mildew and mossy dirty fish tanks.

These guys are my "go to" delivery from eat24hours, and I've found it to be our favorite Chinese delivery in the area. Now, full disclosure here, I am not Chinese, so I can't speak to authenticity; and I'm looking for "best delivery in the area" of Alameda, so that also narrows down my expectations a bit, but whatever my criteria, Yang Chow gets my business. The chow mein is good, there is a good meat to veggie ratio in most of the dishes, and the hot spiced coconut shrimp was a big hit in the house as well. Their char siu bao is a bit too doughy, and I found a hair in my food on my last order, but well, hey. It's not like bugs and hair never find their way into food, even when I meticulously prepare it myself, but. . . still ew. However, if I ever find a roach? This relationship is over.

Not a good experience, mainly due to poor food flavor. The deep fried beef with spicy garlic sauce was pretty good if you like that old school "death by fried meats" style of Chinese dining, as was the plain brown rice. But the pot stickers and egg drop soup were inedible. And everything came all at once, the soup was a thousand degrees and was still too hot to eat when I left. The staff was nice enough, but I can't imagine how they stay open a mile from Oakland Chinatown and with all of the other amazing Asian food in the area.

The Good: Delivery was actually faster than promised. The Bad: Other than the lobster and shrimp in garlic noodles, the food was atrocious. The fried rice was super dried out and virtually inedible. The crispy chicken was terrible. The ginger beef had no hint of ginger whatsoever. They ran out of chow fun, so substituted beef chow mein, which was soggy. The vegetables were decent, although oversoaked in a greasy sauce. My husband loves pork buns, so I ordered him some, and he said they were inedible. I ordered chicken noodle soup, but it did not come. The fried tofu was definitely undercooked.Very disappointing, especially for a $73 tab.

Have been going to Yang Chow for years. Food is delicious and pretty consistent. Huge portions at a great price. With the cost of produce, it bets cooking at home. I can taste the fresh ingredients, too. Definitely not those shady restaurants that I have gone to with ingredients that taste like it has been prepared and out for days. That's why I keep going back. Their sauces are delicious. Wonton soup is one of the best I had. The honey walnut shrimp is good, love the candied walnuts. Yang Chow Fried Rice and the Vegetable Chow Mein is a favorite. The vegetable dishes are very good. Chicken Eggplant, string beans and mushroom, spinach in garlic sauce, mixed veggies, can't decide which I like more. Not to mention, their deep chicken wings are the BOMB. A few dishes had been salty, so if you want less salt, let them know.

I've eaten at Yang Chow twice in the last few weeks. The first time, my sister brought us here. The second time, I specifically requested that we eat here. I think the food here is very good. It could be what we ordered--garlic noodles with shrimp, deep fried fish, Kung Pao chicken, chicken and spinach, Mabo tofu, wor won ton, string bean with pork. Everything is really flavorful, and I have to agree that there's a lot of sauce/gravy in their dishes, but personally, that's how I like it. I was surprised to see the repeated mention of MSG in other reviewes, because I'm pretty sensitive to MSG but haven't had a headache following a meal here.

Ordered from here a few times via Eat24.Delivery is about 30-45 mins. It's not the best Chinese food I've ever had but the portions are decent for the price. I find it very greasy for my taste. I definitely taste the msg. The egg flower soup is pretty good. The egg rolls are a bit small though. The mongolian beef could use a bit more beef and spice. The shrimp chow fun is ok.I'll order from this place if I don't feel like going out and I get a craving for fast Chinese food. I am a common customer on http://eat24.com. The food tastes good....mMost of the time. My girlfriend has informed me the Won Ton soup has lowered in quality. Anyhow, today I found a nasty hair in my BBQ Pork Steamed bun. Gross, but it happens. However I have also found a hunk of plastic from something I cant identify. Looked like a foot to a microwave or something. Anyhow, this is too many gross things found in my food for me. I will be ordering elsewhere from now on.2 because the food tastes good, but 1 for nasty things found in my food.

Been ordering delivery from various Chinese places, looking for a solid go-to place. Believe this is it. Their food was tasty. Their portions are generous. They don't use a lot of filler. Their delivery was fairly expedient. I've only ordered from them this once but so far have not found anything to criticize, unlike the other places I've ordered from.(update: ordered a second time and still very, very pleased. Yum!)

I really want to give Yang Chow 4 star, but I feel over the last 4 months their food quality has declined here's the main reasons why:-They use TONS of carrot for filler. I don't know if its the style but carrot is usually not a staple in most Chinese dishes. they put in everything now, they didn't used to, and the ration of carrot seems to be 65% of the dish, sauce and meat.-Don't order beef entrees (imo), Chicken they give you TONS but beef entrees = 15% beef (thin sad pieces too) and 65% carrot, the other perctage being other vegetables and sauce.-msg maybe :/ (personally I like MSG ^_^, but I order from them too much to be consuming that much MSG and it makes me gorge my food! It wasn't like that before not sure if its new management)Yang Chow does excel in taste of their food despite msg and carrot, the sauce tastes good, the soups are good. The plus side:-Piping hot on arrival-Fast Delivery-Good Food taste (despite lack of meat, excessive carrot) Sauce is good and seems house made, soup broth is always excellent, food cooked very well in general.-Okay price for amount of food, always leftovers, maybe could go $1 cheaper because they seem to be using less ingredients. (No red peppers in my Mongolian beef and carrot added? weird)All in all they are reliable, a bit cheaper than my favorite chinese spot, and open later than most.

Their food is decent. It's not the best, but it's a little better than average. However, their phone service is terrible. Each of the three times I've called, the woman I've spoken to has spoken way too fast, in an extremely bored, rote tone of voice - more aimed to get the call over with than to actually communicate or provide customer service. One time she was downright impatient and put-out about a coupon we wanted to use. We say not worth it unless you're in dire straits for takeout.

Very convenient to go place. The food is your typical Chinese semi fast food place. When you're lazing at home and you want some Chinese this is one of the best places to go. It is relatively affordable and it comes in huge servings. The food itself though may be packaged sloppily with stuff spilling out left and right....but if I had to carry food out myself it would still be like that so I can't complain. The food is good when you first bite into it , but you start to notice a hint of msg and other ingredients that you did not expect. Being msg free for a couple years I know how my body reacts to such food. I start noticing my heart rate racing as if I down a bottle of Redbull with some 5 hour energy. I had to put the fork down and stop eating.I guess my body just isn't build for all that msg anymore, but for those who do no care hey it's a really good deal.

I've never actually been to their dine-in restaurant, but on our lazier days I've often resorted to ordering delivery from Yang Chow. They're prompt enough, 45ish minutes just as Eat24 advises.Regarding the food: it's not the most spectacular but it's tasty enough for the super low price! I will say, they sure do know how to batter & fry chicken! The Garlic Hot Spiced Chicken is my favorite thing from here, along with a bowl of steamed rice. My partner usually gets the standard veggie fried rice and chicken chow mein.Bonus points for reliably adhering to our request to leave out any form of onions! Negative points for the honey walnut shrimp -- I ordered it once and regret my decision to this day: it was hardly something I'd consider edible. Stick to the simpler dishes: garlic chicken, sweet & sour pork, or lemon chicken!

We found this restaurant through Eat24, and they deliver QUICK! The only thing that slows them down is if it's really busy, such as a weekend night or holiday. My husband and I especially like the spicy garlic shrimp and their vegetarian and shrimp pot stickers because we don't eat pork. It's a great environment for kids, I recommend going there early evening with kids because it is more empty then and they can poke around, look in the lobster tank, etc. They're also pretty cheap, considering how much you get in a serving, and their food sanitation is good. Both my husband and I are very sensitive stomachs and get food poisoning easily, but this place has never gotten us sick. The basic dishes aren't exceptionally over the top to die for (fried rice, chow mein, etc) but they're pretty good. Their veggie dishes (especially the eggplant) are what I think are the best.

Weekday lunch promotion Monday-Friday 11am-3pm ten items buffet eat in or take away USD 6. I came, looked at their buffet, decided it looked decent enough and stayed for their buffet. Items I found at their buffet: steamed white rice, fried rice, chow mein, sauteed mixed vegetables, curry chicken, salt & pepper chicken, sweet & sour chicken, fried won ton strips, fried chicken wings, spring rolls, egg foo young, soup of the day.I didn't taste the steam rice, their fried rice wasn't anything worth noticing. I liked the sauteed mixed vegetables but overly salty, salt & pepper chicken, sweet & sour chicken, fried won ton strips, fried chicken wings, way too many fried foods and not in balance. The curry chicken was bland and tasteless, egg rolls and chicken & corn soup were fair but didn't come across any chicken in the soup. Another visit there was vegetarian chow mein was good overall, but the asparagus pieces were overcooked and lost color; a chicken dish awash in an overly salty sauce, and the overcooked hard pellets of scramble eggs with few tiny shrimp, not moist, soft, curds, slightly runny as I would prefer. All of these complaints are easily correctable to improve the quality. Thursdays they serve fried fish fillets which are excellent and would be my desired day for their buffet.Self-service on the buffet. For the price, the quality of the food overall was not as good as it could be, for the weekday lunch promotion. Atmosphere not fancy, but it is clean and decent place to sit and have a meal. Alot of the customers take a container to fill up themselves with whatever will fit inside and close to go for six dollars. Credit cards accepted.

We ordered 3 entrees, and probably will not order from this restaurant again. Makes me sad since we're looking for a decent/good Chinese delivery joint in the area.Honey glazed shrimp with walnuts: decent, though too much sauce. Remedied by scraping off excess.Beef w/ broccoli: ordered this one based on the relatively good reviews. It was pretty nasty, too much goopy sauce, and the broccoli was definitely over-cooked.Kung pao chicken: too much sauce again. That seems to be a common theme. It just plain didn't taste good.Delivery to Emeryville was $4.75, which is totally fine, and the driver was given additional tip as well. I figure we're basically paying the cost of an extra entree for the convenience. What was not totally fine was the driver trying to be all sneaky about it. When he had me sign the receipt he had it folded over so I wouldn't see the various charges etc. I was opening the receipt to sign it and he tried to get me to sign on just half of it so I didn't unfold it and see the extra charges. Lame.
